Bon Jovi is an American rock band from Sayreville, New Jersey. Its name comes from that of the leader and lead singer, Jon Bon Jovi (born John Francis Bongiovi, Jr.).

Formed in 1983, the group had great success in the 1980s, and remained the flagship reference of late 1980s glam metal, being one of the biggest record sellers of the time and one of the groups performing the most impressive world tours, especially in terms of dates and therefore rhythm. It shows greater longevity than other groups of this so-called "metal" period by mixing elements of hard, metal, roots rock, blues, folk, pop and country, enriching its music artistically. and sound, and thus making a commercial success that lasts until today. Bon Jovi is one of the few bands to have survived the grunge and alternative wave of the early 1990s, even making a triumph in Europe as important as the representatives of the alternative movement and Britpop of the time.

Bon Jovi has over 35 million albums sold in the United States and over 130 million worldwide. According to several press articles, the number of concerts given by the group amounts to 2,700, in particular in the main cities of Asia, Europe, Australia, Canada and South America, in more than a very large number of shows in the United States. Slippery When Wet (1986) remains one of the best-selling records in rock history with a total of 30 million copies sold worldwide to date. As for the New Jersey Tour 88-90, it is one of the biggest world tours in the history of hard rock with 240 dates given in 17 months in 22 countries, including the Soviet Union.
